Mom, can the E be in two places? Alternative answer to -"go practice in tune-" derived from "Uncertainty Principle"'- to wit; It is vital to illustrate how the principle applies to relatively intelligible physical situations since it is indiscernible on the macroscopic[8] scales that humans experience. Two alternative frameworks for quantum physics offer different explanations for the uncertainty principle. The wave mechanics picture of the uncertainty principle is more visually intuitive, but the more abstract matrix mechanics picture formulates it in a way that generalizes more easily. Mathematically, in wave mechanics, the uncertainty relation between position and momentum arises because the expressions of the wavefunction in the two corresponding orthonormal bases in Hilbert space are Fourier transforms of one another (i.e., position and momentum are conjugate variables).

i think the cardinal rule of buying a violin is it must be perfectly clear to you what you are buying for the money.A beginner cannot understand the diffrences of expensive violins. Therefore a beginner can buy IMHO a violin up to 1000$.When you start to get a clear notion what the more expensive violin does, you can buy something more expensive. To be at the level of spending tens of thousands on a violin it must be as clear as day what you get for the money. This inevitably unfortunately happens as player progresses and it is obvious to them what they get for the money.

when i was an intermediate beginner i had a hard time playing in tune and i didn't know how to fix it, and my teacher i guess didn't know how to help. from a chance recording i realized i didn't sing in tune either! i thought i can't have that; i'm not tone deaf, in fact i have a good ear. so i went about figuring out how to sing in tune which led basically to learning to listen. that transferred to playing in tune and let me take advantage of my hearing which is actually pretty superb on a good day...

Professor Bushkova, this video came just in great timing for me. I am a cellist of 20 years but a "young" violinist :) of only a few months, mostly teaching myself and through videos online. Recently my cello teacher and I have been pretty much starting from the beginning with my cello technique using Pythagorean tuning and I am re-learning my left hand frame while trying to apply the same principles to my violin technique as well. I have been using the same app-we have been tuning to Pythagorean in the key of A, although I'm not very sure what my teacher's reasoning is. Perhaps it's cello-specific? He also said that when we use the app to tune to flats it's inaccurate. I guess I'll have to ask him why during our next lesson. Also we use medium-level precision for the tuning-I think I saw that you did as well? In any case, a lot of your points overlap with what's been swirling in my head and I am very glad to have your professional insight as a reference point! Thank you very much for the lesson.

I grew up in Romania. We started by learning all the natural notes in 1st position, from G to E string. Afterward, we learned F#, other sharps and flats, before starting the positions. I think the idea was of teaching us where the naturals are, and then how sharps and flats modify the naturals. In a way, instead of learning where - let's say - C# is, we learned where the sharp moved the natural C. It seems like a small difference, but it is like the difference between memorizing and assimilating (understanding) how music (violin) works.

That is interesting. It is also the way my Russian teacher introduced the left hand. No tapes, just reliance on ears and finger memory. He sent me to slow Schradiek #1 within weeks. His focus during that very beginning time was on my bow arm, bow hold, tension. But he did warn me against the tuner and even using the piano to check my intonation, we did use the relative tone against the other strings . (Learned the piano and music theory in Romania as a kid though!)
